What is .nyc?
In June of 2012, ICANN (the organization responsible for determining which top-level domains are available) decided to expand upon the offering of top-level domains, beyond the standard .com, .net, .org, etc. One of the new domains proposed was .nyc, a top-level domain exclusive to people and businesses located in New York City. The proposed TLD was approved, and made available in October of 2014.
